The rest of the site is about the work. This page is about the person doing it, because you're going to be talking to me directly and you may as well know who that is.
I'm a husband to a wonderful woman and a father to three grown kids, currently spread across Austin, San Antonio, and Taiwan. That last one has made me better at asynchronous communication than any job ever did.
Most weekends you'll find me hiking with my wife and our dog, or working on the house. I like problems with a visible result at the end of the day, which is probably the same reason I've stayed hands-on as an engineer for twenty-five years rather than moving fully into management.
Before software, I wrote screenplays. Three were produced. It turns out to be less of a detour than it sounds: most of this job is working out what something is actually supposed to do, then explaining it clearly to people who don't share your assumptions.
Why this page exists
When you hire me, you get me. Not an account manager, not a team you've never met, not a junior engineer with my name on the invoice. That's the whole pitch, and it seems fair that you should know something about the person on the other end of it before the first call.
